Computer File Backup

Backing up you data is an incredibly important step in making sure that research data is protected. Any number of issues can compromise  your computer, therefore having the data stored at another secure location is a necessity.

Mounted Network Drive
Files should be stored on the department network in the folders pertaining to your lab.
See the documentation on how to mount a drive to the fileserver.

Search Files
If you are having difficulty finding where on you computer your files are stored,
most file explorers have a search bar that you can use to find files by name, or filetype.

Moving Files
Most files/folders can be transferred by right clicking the file/folder and selecting "copy",
then going to the correct network fileserver location and right clicking and selecting "paste".
A file transfer should then begin, letting you know when it has finished.
